Keeping Mac Miller in my rotation for this month! My buddy showed me this last song before he left the fire we were working on together. I think this may be one of my favorites of his so far. That slow, easy rap is hitting just right now, after the metal rap I had been into lately. Truly a yin-yang situation going on.
Say one thing about Jed, say he has good taste! Never listened to him before; another artist he put me on, and this song, with its synth notes, bumping bass guitar, and wispy vocals, is an easy listen I keep coming back to!
Nora Nelson is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine. Love, love, love her music, and especially her vocals. I recently learned she uses AI to make her music, and I’m not sure how much of it is the artist’s and how much is generated. With artists battling AI these days, I feel conflicted whether it’s a great tool for creation or somehow tarnishing creation. Either way, Hyperspeed is funky and fast-paced, with her amazing vocals, making for a very good song!
Junior Varsity has been popping up on my feeds more and more and just hits the kitchen sock hop playlist so well! The mix of female and male vocals with the heavy drum emphasis makes me want to kick my feet!
Light on locals but high on vibes! When the rap comes in, it hits and makes you say, “Oh shit!” The music feels like it shouldn’t work with the lyrics, but it does in a new, fun way that’s got me on repeat. Not only that, but I’m not sure what movie they pulled the intro and outro from, but every time I hear it, I laugh lol.
I don’t like all of Conrad’s stuff, but Color Theory was JAM PACKED with absolute bangers! I had a hard time choosing just one to highlight for my music of the month! Woo! is short but does everything it needs to in a short package- a song to just get you jumping!
This summer has been full of people recommending absolute bangers to me! Never heard of Sego, but now I’ve got a handful of their songs in my playlists, and this is one of my favorites. The indie vocals with the synths just got the vibes for this summer. Right up my alley!
Good Neighbours is just straight light vibes. I have recently been making this playlist specifically for dancing in the kitchen with your socks on, and Good Neighbours should honestly be the poster child for the playlist! I heard teasers for this song on TikTok, have been hyped for it for a minute, and wasn’t disappointed!
Connor Price is so consistently in my rotation. A mix of his voice and his rhythm just gets me pumped. Ten is on another level however one of my favorites from him in a hot minute. Ill need to check out this GRAHAM character when I get a chance.
A new Artist I discovered via TikTok and the music video, though simplistic, had me hooked! Chill rap is so in for me, and this one has such a good damn message that I can’t help but bob my head to this song. I am so drawn to music with political messages, and this one just has so much flow.
MELVV is new but Royal & the Serpent surprises me time to time! This song got some good kicky EDM beats meets long soothing female vocals with great build ups, perfect for windows down driving in the summer vibes.
Couldn’t pick just one MELVV song when another new artist, Kennedy, slams this one out of the park. This recipe needs to be studied cause that chorus is a French kiss! Just listen and enjoy!
Thanks for listening! Cheers 🍻
