Isle Royale National Park!
Isle Royale National Park! The park I had been racing up north for! Had to catch my ferry! It was a long one, 3 hours there and 3 hours back! And the kicker is I only had about 3 hours on the island! I spent more time on the ferry than the park itself! Definitely would backpack in and stay a few days next time I visit; the island was beautiful. An alpine island with some snow still around and super clear waters. I made the most out of my time! And despite all of us shuffling off the ferry at the same time, I barely bumped into anyone out on the little loop. No wolves or moose like I was hoping though! Did bump into a cute Canada Jay; my phone even connected to the Canadian cell towers since I was so close! Got to talk to a lot of cool travelers on the ferry and also see just how vast the Great Lakes really are!
My plant focus was the viginia saxifrage (Micranthes virginiensis) a plant in the saxifrage family! This plant is usually found growing on rocks, cliffs, and logs! And has a stem that is thought to deter ground insect that would be less effective then flying insects. There are a lot of variations between species of these plants, so there is a chance it could be another plant. It was the only flower I saw on the island that stood out to me!
Only 1 more park to go and my journey will have come to an end.
