Smoky Mountain National Park!

Day 185 was filled with amazing views and a lot of elevation gain! 3 pretty awesome trails. The first was actually from day 184 where I climbed up to the tallest point in the park to visit the observation tower. The next one up to a cave and lastly up Rainbow Falls! Bumped into lots of cools bugs, a salamander, and even a mama bear and her cubs! Met the coolest couple from up north as we hiked up to the waterfall together. I loved visiting just after the rain the fog and pine trees reminded me of the PNW!

My plant focus is the Painted Trillium! (Trillium undulatum) A cool plant in the bunch flower family with a striking single flower that gets its name from its parts coming in threes! 3 leaves, 3 sepals, 3 petals! That flower will grow into a single red fruit as long as it gets pollinated. The fruit is unique and is found on no other north American Trillium.
One more park off the list! See you round! Cheers!
