Van Life Day 202

Devils Lake State Park in Wisconsin! What a big, pretty lake! Did a fun walk up the hill on the west side of the lake and down to the water! It was busy on the weekend, and luckily my Parks Pass worked for this park because of an intersecting trail that crosses through the Park! It was a really nice day, so you could hear families and people playing in the water even from high up on the hill! First time hearing people enjoying the summer! Really got me excited for summer camping trips, swimming with friends and family 😁😁😁. Really popular spot for rock climbing and some awesome views at the top of the hill. Even found some geocaches!

My plant focus is the wild geranium (Geranium maculatum), a plant in the family it’s named after: Geraniaceae. A common perennial plant native to woodlands. It’s also known as cranesbill for how it dispenses its seeds via a long, beak-like cell. The plant is often grown in native gardens, as it is a good pollinator that blooms in early spring. The plant has some medicinal uses, including stopping bleeding and being used as a tea to help with toothaches and nerve pain. I really liked the flowers, which have 5 petals and 10 stamens and range from purple to pink!
