Project Hail Mary was a book I read and loved a few years ago, so when they announced a movie, I was a little worried they were going to butcher it. I went to see this in theaters and was blown away. The movie follows a scientist who wakes up in a distant galaxy as he slowly regains his memories of why he is there. He is on a mission to save the Sun from an alien bacterium. On this mission, he bumps into another alien with the same issue, and they must find a way to communicate and work together to save both of their planets.

As an adaptation of the book, they did a really good job; while a little streamlined, the movie hits all the major and best parts of the book. I used to not be a huge fan of Ryan Gosling, but he has grown on me a lot and has become one of my favorite actors. He does an amazing job in this role. The movie is funny, has great visuals, and an interesting plot with great twists. If you like sci-fi, you are going to love Project Hail Mary and will probably be in my top 3 movies released this year.
