I have a hobby of collecting wacky B-List and Weird VHS movies. Usually found in antique stores, flea markets, and thrift stores. Coca-Cola Kid was one of those movies. The movie follows an American marketing manager as he goes to Australia to try to figure out why Coca-Cola isn’t selling in a specific location. He soon finds that a competing soda company is stealing the show. The marketing manager must navigate a new place while dealing with a crazy female coworker and an even crazier CEO of the opposing soda company.

The movie starts out straight forward enough but very quickly devolves into a mild fever dream of minor sub plots. I kinda got whiplash from scene to scene with us being in a recording studio slamming out catchy song for Coke to a full nudity shower scene. The back and forth between the two companies was kinda of a lack luster plot for me personally and went on a little to long with not much really happening between the two. For me personally the wacky and fever dream is exactly what i was looking for with these VHS tapes but from a movie standpoint was kinda mediocre movie with no straight forward message or story. With the mature themes I am honestly surprised Coca Cola was okay slapping their name on it. Maybe the catchy song was good to pass up on.
