Chiricahua National Monument
Chiricahua National Monument is definitely in the top 5 prettiest places I have been to so far! This is another National Monument I didn’t originally pin on my road trip map. I had gone down to do a cave tour across the valley and had some time to kill before sundown, so Atlas and I scurried on down and were absolutely stunned by the formations. The whole valley is littered with those column structures that make for not only a cool drive but also a cool hike! It was an arid desert, but with lots of pines and other evergreens! I was even lucky enough to spot a spider friend on the trail.

My plant focus is the Parry Agave (Agave parryi)! Often found at higher elevations within the monument, it is an evergreen in the asparagus family! It is a slow-growing plant and dies after flowering, producing a long stalk of flowers. It is very popular for gardening due to its hardiness and ease of growing. Growing a new plant is as easy as taking one of its leaves off the side of the plant to propagate. Love seeing these arid plants in the wild.
