I discovered this Movie from a clip on TikTok and saw Shia, and just had to watch it. I didn’t know I would find one of my new favorite movies. This movie is now in my top 3 movies of all time. It follows a kid with Down syndrome who escapes the old folks’ home he was living in to pursue his dream of wrestling, only to bump into a fisherman down on his luck and on the run from his own manhunt. This unlikely duo sets out on a beautiful Mark Twain-esque journey across North Carolina, bumping into trouble and interesting characters along the way.

As a traveler who is in North Carolina at the time of watching and writing this, the movie just hit all the right notes for me. A little bit of “coming of age” mixed with a down-to-earth adventure with tons of camaraderie that you can’t help but smile and feel a part of. There is even a little bit of romance squeezed in there and a great soundtrack mixing folk and bluegrass. This movie is a feel-good movie through and through. I do think some elements of the story were not elaborated on or were only briefly touched on, which felt a little odd to include, but not enough to affect my overall enjoyment of the movie.
