After spending a beautiful morning enjoying Odell lake and making some pancakes, I doubled back to Diamond Creek Falls and got to see not 1 but 2 incredible waterfalls! The first one was super easy to get to, and goodness, the pine trees and the water fall had me swooning!

Now there was a lake between the two falls called “Too Many Bears Lake,” but as a fan of bears, I think there weren’t enough. The crystal-clear still water was such a vibe, though. Pair that with views of the valleys, and this little loop trail is just downright scenic!

The plant I chose to share this time around was Ramaria araiospora, or the red coral mushroom. Commonly found in the PNW, and are also fruity this time of year, they can often be found under
Hemlock trees, which this trail had in abundance. This mushroom is edible but can cause tummy aches. According to Wikipedia, it’s sold in Mexico for about $10 to $20 for about 17oz. They call it “Bird’s legs.” DISCLAIMER: I am a hobbyist botany enjoyer, please do your research and don’t eat any mushrooms because I said so, thanks!
