Icicle Gorge Trail

After waking up just outside Leavenworth, I decided to double back and hike a trail in the area that looked really interesting. I had a concert later that day, but I had quite a bit of time to kill, so I picked the Icicle Gorge Trail, which wasn’t too far up the road from Leavenworth. It was a bit rainy, but nothing that could stop us from hitting the trail! The hike was beautiful. I hadn’t hiked in the PNW in a while, and it was so lush and so green. The light rain just added to the experience. There was an awesome river that flowed through most of the hike, with opportunities to get some pretty cool photos. The weather was perfect, and adding this little layer of fog to all the trees really helped give it some depth and make it all the more pretty! Didn’t bump into a lot of little guys, just a couple of chipmunks and some birds! After my hike, I hit the road for Seattle to get to my concert.t I went and saw the Haunted House crew, which had been on the top of my list for a concert for quite a while, so it was amazing to see them live!

I usually try to learn about a plant from my hike and this time I picked the Berbis nervosa or the Oregon Barberry! Which is like a baby version of their state flower the Oregon Grape! Lewis and Clark collected these on their journey! They are common in forests and grow in the sun spots in the canopy!
