Leavenworth!
After saying farewell to my grandparents we hit the road for a moderate drive to the Washington town of Leavenworth which I heard was just a gorgeous town with a lot of history. We got there just after noon and I found a decent place to park and headed for downtown and did a stroll down their historic strip and found a Nutcracker museum which I obviously had to explore and find my favorite nutcracker. After that I did some gift shopping before finding myself a nice German restaurant selling brats which were absolutely to die for would try again.

After fueling up and getting a bite to eat, I headed out for a nature walk, which included a visit to Enchantment Park and Whitewater Park. I think there was a bird island in between as well. It was really lovely to see all the fall colors. The trail was brimming with horse tails, a fascinating plant that still uses spores to reproduce, which is truly remarkable to see. And with that, we were running out of daylight, so we ended up heading back to Atlas and hitting the road to find a place to sleep for the night. Found a little pull of just outside of town that was perfect!
