Hey Hey! Time to catch up on some blogging! Back on June 26th, I went camping at Anthony Lake with a bunch of my friends. If you follow my TikTok or my YouTube Channel, you may have already seen some videos from the trip. If you follow my Instagram, you probably have seen photos from the trip! This blog post will be all of things put together but with a little exposition from yours truly. So lets jump in!
June 26th: The Drive, Setting up Camp and Scouting!
We started fairly early in the morning, but did have to wait a few minutes for the convoy to form and to do some shopping for items we forgot. We made a jam session on Spotify, and we jammed out all the way to camp, and I got to catch up with my buddy Aj on the drive up. The drive was primarily rural until the last 30 or 40 minutes when things got real steep and real forest-y. The whole campground was first-come, first-served, and we arrived with tons of open spots and eventually set up in two campgrounds next to each other.
Setting up camp was a lot of fun! Trying to set up the most scuffed tent on the planet, figuring out the math for the camp fees, and battling the swarms of bugs was much more fun with friends to goof around with. Once we got things a bit more settled, we decided to do a scouting mission for the lake since we were a short walk away. The lake did not disappoint! While there were a lot more bugs this time of year, we came at the perfect time for all the wild flowers, and the lake was downright picture-esque. I couldn’t wait and decided I needed to get my feet wet ASAP, and went for a walk through the stream, which was oh so cold but 100% worth it. After our walk back, we cooked up some goulash and had ourselves a merry fire! The fun would continue tomorrow!

June 27th: Treasure Hunting, and Upper Lake!
Woke up to the perfect treasure hunting weather! After a quick breakfast, we hit the trails in search of some nearby geocaches! The first one was just a short walk from our camp, and the team found it with ease. It was good practice for the gang, even if the loot wasn’t that good (a lot of nicotine gum lol?). The following few caches were located on the other side of Anthony Lake, accessible via a trail that led to another lake. The hike was a bit steep, but it was incredibly beautiful, with numerous cool plants, and we even spotted fish in the river. The 2nd cache was a bit out of the way, but we found it, and the rocks in the area made for a really cool micro biome. We also secured ourselves some rare loot in the form of a cool Hot Wheels!
The Hoffer Lakes were just as pretty as Anothny with some lush marsh areas that were straight out of a movie. We took our packs and had some snacks, then just enjoyed the scenery. My buddy Aaron brought up his really nice camera and took tons of amazing photos; the guy should get a job with Nat Geo! The third and final cache was not too far away from the lake, but was definitely the hardest to find. Our crew ended up going 3 for 3! Typically, there will be one or two caches that you can’t see or are missing, but we aced it. Some of the crew were getting tired, and it was approaching dinner time, so we decided to hike back down and settle in for the evening. During nap time, I even had the chance to make a Sun wheel! I meant to make them for Litha, but I was too busy, so I was glad I was still able to. It’s such a nice decoration for my room.

June 28th: A Day On the Lake
It was finally time for a picture-esque day on the lake! After a fantastic pancake breakfast courtesy of Rachel and me, we headed out! I had brought my Kayak and paddleboard, and Michael and Rachel packed up a raft, so we decided to go explore Anthony Lake. For a Saturday, it wasn’t too busy and was also a warm day, even if it was only in the mid-80s. The lake was downright FREEZING, though, from all the snow melt, so I was the only one who went swimming. It took a lot of acclimating, though, and even then, I was still pretty cold. I did learn that Anthony Lake isn’t that deep. Being in the middle of the lake, surrounded by wildflowers and pine trees, I spent a lot of time just taking it all in. Anthony Lake was just downright magical. We spent most of the day out there, and the rest of the time chilling at camp and winding down for the trip. We had walking tacos and packed up most of our stuff so we could get an early start on leaving in the morning!

Curtains Falls On Anthony Lake 2025
That was all she wrote for my camping trip to Anthony Lake. I am super glad to have made some fresh memories with friends before I embarked on my van trip. Thank you to all my friends who set aside time and money to go on this camping trip. From cramming in the van while watching a terrible musical about killer tomatoes to throwing up in the middle of camp, I had an absolute blast and hope we can do more things like this in the future! I am going to miss yall when I leave in October.
Till Next Time,
Cheers!
Chandler!
