Howdy, Howdy Everyone! It has been a hot minute since I have made an update regarding Atlas. If you have checked out some of my other posts and vlogs you may have seen some updates here and there, but I wanted to make a comprehensive post with EVERYTHING Atlas. After reviewing my last update, I realize there is A LOT to share so this may be a longer post. You have been warned….Let’s jump in!
Interior Improvements
Last update, we had just gotten the shelf installed where the fridge used to be. We got that painted, and it works great! We installed hooks on the back side of the pantry door to loop carabiners so they can attach to the cabinet handles. Next will be to install blocks to the door that swing down and allow my shelf door to double as a table. We just finished fixing the large drawer under the bed. It was on tracks that were barely working and on their way out the door. We replaced them with castor wheels, and luckily, there was already a frame in place to keep the drawer in place. We removed a small piece of wood to allow it to roll out and installed some latches to keep it in place while driving. The only thing left is to get something to put inside the big drawer, plus the sink cabinet, to allow for more storage/ organization.

We also added a small bracket for my new cooler box to sit in so it doesn’t go anywhere when driving. As an extra precaution, I also added a bungee to keep the box closed as well as keep the cabinet doors closed. I got window covers for all the windows, with the exception of the driver side window behind the shelf. I used plastic suction cups to keep the covers attached to the windows, and they have helped keep the van significantly cooler and will also give me some privacy at nigh
Exterior Improvements
If you saw my content from the Bannock camping trip, you know my new awning has been installed and is working perfectly! It took a few attempts to install and required some adjustments to the mounts. I couldn’t be happier with it. It’s the perfect size and easy enough for me to deploy on my own. The last exterior project was just recently completed. Luckily, my grandparents run a diesel repair shop. With the help of one of his employees, Talon, the master of all things welding, we now have a brand-new storage basket for the back hitch! I haven’t taken it on any trips yet, but it’s working great around town, with no problems. I’m glad to have it; it will allow me to store a lot more items, as well as my backup generator. This thing has all the bells and whistles I could possibly need, and Talon has been a massive help in recommending all sorts of features I hadn’t even considered. I’m excited to take it on my upcoming trip to really put it to the test.
Gear Updates
I am slowly accumulating a bunch of gear that will improve my van life a ton. There is quite a bit so I am just going to list em off and share some photos.

Slowly building my home on wheels piece by piece has been fun. I am glad to be watching my van creep closer and closer to completion. I really like the green and brown theme for the van, and buying matching gear makes my heart happy, making Atlas feel more like home with every addition. I am SO SO SO SO stoked and excited to embark and finally get on the road. We are really on the final stretch, and that blows my mind it feels like so much has happened since I started this journey of mine.
To Do List
Here is what is left for Atlas in terms of plans:
- Finish building the table
- Buy blocks
- Buy a jack
- Potentially get a Dash Cam
- Buy the last of my camera equipment
- Finish Digital Itinerary
Thanks for catching up with Atlas! I cannot wait till I am out on the road, and every day will be a new adventure and also a new post for this blog. Stay tuned! I am planning on making a cool change to the blog that I am excited about. I also hope to share my digital itinerary soon. I also have two camping trips coming up, one at the end of June and one at the beginning of July, which should keep me busy editing for a while. Catch you in the next post.
Cheers,
Chandler
