I’m very excited to share my recent trip to Bayview! Me and my family did something very special for Thanksgiving this year. We had not been up to their cabin in a very long time and it’s also been a long time since we had everyone together in one place like this for such a long time. I was so glad to be able to spend so much time with all my family and to be up in the gorgeous mountains of northern Idaho.
The Caravan Heads Out
We decided to head up a day early so we could settle in before all the craziness of cooking a big Thanksgiving Dinner for 15 people. We left bright and early at 6am and took the 95 all the way up for a good 10-hour drive full of scenic views and quality time with Mom, Dad, and Chey. We even stopped at the Seasons Restaurant in Grangeville for breakfast, as well as some arts and crafts. We also stopped at a little shop called Warpath. We were lucky enough with the weather that the roads were clear and other than Dylan doing some sketchy lane changes got to Bayview safely with no issues.

Thanks Giving Day!
We got to Gigi and Papa Bill’s cabin in Bayview Idaho late on Wednesday and got all settled in and talked about everything new in our lives before heading to bed to rest up for the big turkey day! In the morning we cooked breakfast and, Chey and the grandparents went on a hike/ geocache hunt in Farragut State Park. Since it was Thanksgiving the trail was empty except for us and we had a blast amongst all the pine trees. We were able to find 3 out of the 5 caches we had set out to find, no cool baubles but one of the caches has a friendly snake. After that, we headed home and got to cooking! I made some new brie bites that I saw a recipe for on TikTok and they turned out great! I would make some changes next time I made them but they were all eaten at the end of the night so I would count that as a win. It was so nice having everyone together for a big communal meal and hearing what everyone was thankful for. After dinner, we played a game that I had not played since I was a kid: Mexican train. Which was actually more fun than I remember it being. I could not have asked for a better Thanksgiving and am so thankful for my family and all their wild antics.
Parade + Cruise
Friday was just as crazy as Thursday! We woke up to a big ol’ breakfast and everyone did their own morning activities around 3 we headed into Cour de Lane to hit all the small shops downtown before the parade. I got a ton of cool stuff, a new sweatshirt, hat, and even a blessing charm for journeys I plan on doing some spell work a little later. Oh can’t forget my cool bear sticker, I will make sure to post some pictures. Downtown was packed! I don’t think I have seen that many people in downtown Boise! Everyone was packed to see the parade, me and mom got everyone hot beverages and we all watched the parade before we embarked on our cruise to go see the Christmas village. The cruise was neat with a quick ride across the lake where we saw Santa and a small firework display while singing some Christmas carols. It made me really excited for Christmas and spending more time with my family around the Christmas tree.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
Thanks for reading along and joining me for my 2024 Thanksgiving I hope everyone got to eat some good food and spend quality time with their family and had as good of a time as I did!
Cheers,
Chandler
